BARRETT, EDNA E. (nee COONEY) 95 - of Tuckerton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Weds., September 15, at Arcadia Nursing Home.

Edna was born on a farm, in Lilly, PA., June 9, 1915, to Charles and Matilda Cooney. After graduating from high school, Edna moved to NJ., where she became a licensed hairdresser. During WWII she married Charles Barrett, who was serving in the military, and they traveled across the U.S. After the war, Edna and Charles moved to West Orange, N.J., where they raised their two children Joan and Thomas. Edna enjoyed being a stay at home mom, when the children were young. Joan and Thomas loved having her for their mother. Later Edna went to work for several bakeries in the area, including Supreme Bakery, where she served as night manager until her 80th birthday. For the next ten years, Edna lived with her daughter Joan, and her family, who loved her dearly.

Edna will be remembered as a kind and loving wife and mother, and a fun loving and playful grandmother and great-grandmother, and a caring friend who enjoyed the enduring friendship of Pat Trainor, Ella Sullivan, and Laura Schauger. Edna enjoyed music, including Rock and Roll, dancing, reading books, discussing politics, and watching baseball, football, and hockey. Edna's faith was very important to her, and she was a member of Our Lady of Lords Church, for many years. Though Edna's health declined over the last few years, she continued to display a resilient spirit, and never lost her sense of humor.

Edna was predeceased by her husband Charles, sister, Margaret, and brothers, Thomas and James. She is survived by her son Thomas C., Edmonton, Canada, daughter Joan E. Garahan, Little Egg Harbor, N.J., brothers Charles Cooney, Lilly, PA., and Paul Cooney, Cresson, PA., grandchildren Tony, Christina, Rachel, Dan, and Sam, and two precious great-granddaughters, Hannah, and Sara, nieces, Patty, Joi, and Cindy.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life, Sun., September 19, from 2-4 P.M., followed by services at 4 P.M., at WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 134 EAST MAIN ST., TUCKERTON, N.J. Burial will be Mon., September 20, at 11 A.M., at Greenwood Cemetery, Tuckerton, N.J. In appreciation for the wonderful care Edna received from the staff at Arcadia Nursing Home, memorial contributions may be made to Arcadia's Activity Dept., 151 9th Ave., Little Egg Harbor, N.J.
