From Holland St. John - "Mary was born in 1833 and was the daughter of Robert H. and Margaret (Burlison) Duckworth. Her parents had established a farm in Black Township, Posey County, Indiana. She was the eldest daughter and one of nine children in the family. Other members included: John, Rachel, Aaron, Robert H., Volley Emaline, William, Dorcus and David. On August 3, 1853 she married David L. Culley (sometimes spelled "Cully") in Posey County. The 1860 census indicates that David was twenty-seven years of age and was farming in Black Township next to his parent's farm. Mary was listed as being twenty-five years of age (which was probably not accurate). They had two children living at home at the time: Margaret (6) and Samuel (3). In 1870 David was still farming in Black Township and another child had been added to the family: Rachel, born in 1862. The 1880 census records that David, Mary and Rachel were still living on the farm. David's nephew Alfred Cully, age 14, was living with them. Mary married (2) Peter S. Lawrence on December 18, 1884 in Posey County. Mary (Duckworth) (Culley) Lawrence died on February 27, 1901 at Mount Vernon, Posey County. She is interred in the Phillips Cemetery along with her first husband David (who died in 1881) and her parents. This cenetery is located near Farmersville, Posey County, Indiana."
