"The LaFayette Sun" - October 8, 1913:

The wife of Green Appleby, the barber, died last Friday night and was buried Saturday. She was the eldest child of Cap Erwin, who belonged to the old antebellum family of Col. Erwin. She was 55 years of age and was the mother of sixteen children, six of whom are living.

*Note: She is likely buried in an unmarked grave next to her husband Green Appleby. What is now known as Gresham Cemetery has, in the past been referred to as LaFayette Cemetery or LaFayette Colored Cemetery. I believe Green Appleby is buried here in an unmarked grave, possibly near his son Willie Eugene Appleby whose grave is marked with a concrete slab. The epitaph is still barely legible in 2019.
