SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Jency L. Hershberger, 83, of Sacramento, died Tuesday
(Nov.13, 2001) at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento following a brief illness.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1918, in Nappanee to Levi and Fannie (Miller) Hershberger
and married Lovina C. Garber on Nov. 27, 1937. She died in July 1959.
He married Ethel F. Davidhizar, now his former wife, on June 8, 1960, who survives.
He married Luella Dirks on May 13, 1970, and she also survives.
Mr. Hershberger is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Eva) Stutzman, Rozella "Rosie" Hershberger and Mrs. Richard (Thelma) Ramer, all of Goshen, Mrs. Richard (Linda) Wogoman and Mrs. David (Betty) Schmid, both of Granger; three sons, Richard L. (Kathie) of Palm Beach Shores, Fla., Terry D. (Sheri) of Oakhurst, Calif., and Arthur J. (Jane) of Hendersonville, N.C.; 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; one sister, Martha Winslow; and five brothers, Clarence, Roman, Leroy, Levi and Floyd.
Mr. Hershberger lived in the Elkhart County area before moving to Starke County where he became pastor of the Toto Mennonite Church. Following that, he moved to Winton, Calif., where he was pastor of Sharon Mennonite Church.
He was a member of New Hope Free Methodist Church in Sacramento. A memorial service will be held at that church on Monday. Sacramento Memorial Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
