Bernice Ruth Null Fritz, of Columbia, passed away at Hospice of Lancaster County on Sunday, June 12, 2011, which was also her 91st birthday. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late George and Irene Shaub Null. Bernice was the wife of the late Lester C. Fritz who passed away in December 1989. She was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church. Bernice was employed by Kahn Lucas of Columbia for many years, having worked in the Shipping Department on Second Street in Columbia prior to her retirement in 1982.
Bernice is survived by three children: Dennis Michael husband of Freda Karr Fritz of York, Deborah L. wife of John H. McCallin, Jr. of Mountville, Gary Lee Fritz companion of Debbie Redifer of Manchester; a brother: Peter W. Null husband of Marlene White Null of Mountville; three grandchildren: Jill Rene wife of Michael Arnold, Todd Erin husband of Ellie Fritz, Steven Michael husband of Tammy Brandt Stoltzfus; seven great-grandchildren: Casey, Zachery, and Samantha Fritz; Meggan, Anne, and Michael Arnold; Amanda Stoutzenberger, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother: Charles Null and a sister: Erma Montgomery.
A memorial service for Bernice will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011, from the Columbia United Methodist Church, North 5th and Walnut Streets, Columbia, at 6 PM with the Reverend Jeffrey A. Snyder officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall. Interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
