Mary E. Bantz, 85, of Plano, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2006 at Walnut Grove Nursing Home in Morris. She was born May 11, 1920 in Elmwood, IL, the daughter of Harry and Alma (Lindzey) Runyon.
She was a 1936 graduate of Yates City High School. She married Clarence W. Bantz on August 29, 1937 in Davenport, IA. She was known for her expertise in cooking, baking, and cake decorating. She owned and operated her own restaurant. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting and her family.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence of Morris; five sons, Bill (Arlene) Bantz of Plano, Robert (Diane) Bantz of Ft. Pierce, FL; her twin sons, Gerald (Sharron) Bantz of Plano and Harold (Betty Anne) Bantz of Columbia, IL and Jim (Connie) Bantz of Piper City, IL; 16 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty King of Elmwood, IL and Agnes Snyder of Lafayette, IL; two brothers, Gene Runyon of Elmwood, IL and Kenneth Runyon of Canton, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Phyllis Bock and Ruth Aeillo; and a brother, Robert Runyon.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the Turner Funeral Home (1/4 mile West of Eldamain Rd. on Rt. 34), Plano, IL, with Rev. Stan Motley officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of services at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Little Rock Twp. Cemetery in Plano. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Autism Society or Apraxia-Kids and mailed in care of Turner Funeral Home.
