She was referred to as Helen, Elen, Ellen, Elinor, and Eleanor, Ellender, Elender, depending which document etc. you found her on. Samuels tombstone reads Samuel Christey. Consort of Helen ,and her own tombstone reads Elen, so I call her Elen. What an outstanding lady she was.

Family history has her coming to Iowa from Bartholomew co., Indiana at age 61 in a 17 wagon train with some of her children after the death of her husband, Samuel.

She was the mother of Anna Christy Yoder, Sarah Christy Banister, Margaret Christy Davis, William Christy, James E Christy, Andrew Jackson Christy, Samuel Jr. Christy, Jonathan Christy, Jacob Christy, Mary E Christy Roberts, George Washington Christy and John C Christy.

Her second husband was John Smith and they married 6 December 1858 in Davis co., Iowa.
