Violet was born to John and Viva Smith in February of 1917. She was the second of 13 children. She married Alma M. Ashford. She resided at 735 East 11000 South in Sandy, Utah at the time of her death.


He preceded her in death in 1977. They had four children, Melvin (died in infancy), Thelma Stephensen (Mark, deceased), Elma Ashford (deceased) and Charles Ashford.


She is survived by two of her four children, two sisters and one brother; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.


Violet was a hugger and never met a stranger. She will be missed.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Lake Hills Memorial Mortuary, 10055 South State Street (100 East), Sandy. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services at the mortuary.
Interment at the Sandy City Cemetery.
