Lucy attended my great-grandmother during her illness, at which time, my great-grandmother asked her husband, Lawson, to marry Lucy after her death, which he did four months later. Their marriage produced four children as she helped raise his four. Lucy was often left alone at the farm with 8 kids of all ages as Lawson freighted for cash. I also learned that Lucy had polio at some time in her life and could not walk without a crutch. Lucy is the mother of George F., Fannie Dorris, Clara Lawrence Pierson, and Mamie Sewell. She is buried beside her husband.
