Barneta was born June 26, 1906 in Clarksville, Texas to the union of Edmond Lewis and Mattie Lee Dixon Lewis. She received her education at the local public schools and religious training at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Clarksville where her father was a minister. She professed her belief in and love of God to all.

Barneta met and married Mosely Leonard Behn, Sr. It was after this time that she decided she preferred the name of Juanita instead of Barneta. Six children were born to this union.

Juanita was a true matriarch of the family. Her home was where all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew they would always be welcome. There was always family visiting her home, not just on holidays, but on a daily basis, and she would not have had it any other way.

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother departed this life on March 22, 1994. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mosely; one daughter, Lafayette (Alice Faye) Hill; her parents, three sisters, Edwina Nelson, Lucille Anderson and Bobbie Lee Lewis; five brothers, Jim Lewis, Sampson Lewis, Zebidee Lewis, Oscar Lewis and Jason Lewis.

Survivors include one son, Mosely (Mel) Leonard Behn, Jr. of Fresno, CA; four daughters, Rosetta Bills, Arneta Mack, Ethel Jones, all of Fresno, and Jennie Wesley of Gardena, CA; one sister, Ollivette (C.A.) Young of Albuquerque, NM, and one brother, Gavin (Ruth) Lewis of Clarksville, TX.

Services entrusted to the care of Jesse E. Cooley Funeral Home, 1830 South Fruit Avenue, Fresno, CA.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Jesse E. Cooley Jr. Funeral Chapel.
