Edna Vivian "Viva" Moyers was the daughter of Alford Whitten "Whitt" and Pinkie BeAvis Stewart Moyers, and the granddaughter of Rufus Sherril and Mary Francis Weir Moyers and William Calvin "Wil Cal" and Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie B" Stewart. She was the fourth born to Whit and Pinkie and born in Limestone County, Alabama. She met, married, divorced and remarried Bobbie Lee Brooks also of Limestone County, Alabama. The first marriage was in 1941 and the second time was in 1949, not sure how long the first marriage to Bobbie lasted but the second marriage was short lived as they again divorced, To this couple was the birth of their only child, a daughter, Dianna. Vivian never married again and lived on her parents farm with her mother who was a widow since 1949 and her daughter Dianna. In 1966, Vivian's mother Pinkie died and she and Dianna remained on the farm until Dianna married Dennis Floyd McBay in 1971, Vivian lived there until her death in 1980. Vivian was a school teacher, in her early years she taught and was assistant princpal at a two room school but I can't remember the name of it and she taught at Oak Grove in the early 50's, she was teaching there when she was expecting her daughter. She later taught math at East Limestone High School in Limestone County, Alabama until she retired just 2 short years before her death. She not only taught school but would take on jobs on the side to help keep her and her daughter on the farm. She sold door to door beauty products, she worked several seasons during ginning season as a bookkeeper for Murphy's Gin there in Tanner, Limestone County, Alabama, and whereever needed in other gins George Murphy owned in the surrounding area, she tutored children in their homes when they were having problems understanding their math and she had cattle and pigs on the farm that she sold from time to time to help keep the farm going.
Vivian was 36 when her daughter was born, her one wish was to live long enough to see Dianna graduate from high school. She did that and lived to see Dianna married and give her four grandchildren whom she spent every moment she could with them, the oldest was 6 years old and the youngest was only 10 months old when Vivian died in Athens Limestone Hospital at 2a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 1980.
