Funeral services were impressively conducted Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Kebil-Coultrip Funeral Home and later at 2 o'clock from the Sycamore Methodist Church for John Vance McMillan, 48, who passed away suddenly at 5 o'clock Friday afternoon at his local home, 320 E. High street, following a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been in failing health for a year. Carlos Welch, assistant to Rev. Leighty, officiated and burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr. McMillan was born March 20, 1904, in Jackson County, Wis. the son of William and Sarah McMillan. On May 30, 1926 he was united in marriage to Jessie Bryan at Sycamore. The following year the couple moved to Neillsville, Wis., where they farmed until 1936, then moved to Genoa, remaining there four years then came to Sycamore in 1940. Mr. McMillan was employed at the Diamond Wire & Cable Company here. He was affiliated with the Sycamore Methodist church and was a member of the Sycamore Moose Lodge.

Survivors are his widow, four sons, Pvt. George McMillan, Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.; David, Walter and Larry, at home; five daughters, Mrs. Velma Singleton and Mrs. Nora Palm, both of Sycamore and Sarah Jane, Mary Jo and Carol Lee, all at home. There are also surviving ten brothers and sisters and two grandchildren. An infant son preceded him in death.
