Eva Ruth Evans Griebel, 99, Stockton, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at Solomon Valley Manor, Stockton.

She was born Jan. 6, 1909, in rural Missouri to William and Bessie (Thorton) Evans. She attended Eureka and Verveka rural schools. She attended Webster High School for two years. She graduated from Mantua Township School in 1926 and enrolled at Kent College. She graduated from Ottawa University with a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics. She taught home economics at Webster and Stockton schools until 1975.

She married Merl Griebel on June 12, 1930, in Hays. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, one daughter, one sister, five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

Private services will be Thursday, followed by graveside services at 11 a.m.in Mount Vernon Cemetery northwest of Stockton. There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to Rooks County Historical Society in care of the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, Stockton.
