Died. At her home [unreadable*] south of Ne-
koosa, on Saturday, July 13, 1895, Mrs. Mary E. Joslin,
wife of Thomas Joslin, after an illness of two weeks.
Mary Elizabeth Scott was born in
Cato, Cayuga Co., New York, June 11,
1835. She was married to Thomas
Joslin July 10, 1860. Soon after her
marriage she took up her residence in
Pennsylvania. After two years of
life in the Keystone state the young
couple cast their fortunes with the
West. They first located at Plainfield
in this state. But soon they removed
to the vicinity of their present farm,
where they have lived together since
1865. Here nearly all of her seven
children were born and raised. This
has been the center of her influence
for thirty years. While her time has
been largely given to the training of
her children, she has not neglected
those who were in need of her help.
From her home has often gone forth
the "cup of cold water in His name."
Many a weary traveler has found shel-
ter and rest under her roof. For many
years, distant from churches, this
neighborhood was benefited by the
opening of her home for worship.
Her great influence of late years was
with her family for whom she gladly
toiled and sacrificed. Her self-sacri-
ficing, unselfish life will ever be a
treasure to them and the community
in which she lived.
The funeral was held at the resi-
dence in Juneau county on Monday
at ten o'clock. The burial was in the
pretty little cemetery near her home.
