Bill was a great friend. He was quite a guitar player. I met him when I was 14 at a jam session. I remember that I had broken a pick, so Bill handed me one of his that said "Fender" on it. I had never heard of Fender before, and Bill really got a laugh out of that. (you'd have to be a musician...) We traveled many a mile to play music, and I never knew Bill to be unkind to anyone.
