Mr. James Franklin Abrecht, 70, of 111 Water St., Frederick, died Sunday, April 20, at Glade Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville.

Born Dec. 16, 1932, in Frederick, he was a son of the late Clyde Smith Sr. and Wilmoth Adams Abrecht.

Mr. Abrecht had been employed as a special police guard with the National Institutes of Health.

Surviving are four children, Robert Degrange of Brunswick, Rosemary Abrecht and Barbara Abrecht, both of Frederick, and Clyde A. Abrecht and wife Barbara of Williamsport; seven grandchildren, Tashika Abrecht, Henry Michael Crampton Jr. and wife Tracey and Keith Crampton, all of Frederick, Jamie Stoops and Kelsey Abrecht, both of Williamsport, Jessica Bivens of St. Thomas, Pa., and Christina Degrange of Hagerstown; two great-grandchildren, Michael R. Crampton and Anthony Crampton, both of Frederick; three sisters, Ruth Ruthvin and husband Hayes and Nellie Abrecht, all of Frederick, and Dottie Sensing and husband Donald of Yellow Springs; three brothers, Frank Abrecht of Walkersville, Gene Abrecht and wife Libby of Middletown, and Douglas Abrecht Sr. and wife Caroline of Frederick; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Abrecht will also be remembered by his former wife, Lillian Degrange Anderson Abrecht.

Mr. Abrecht was preceded in death by one grandson, Blaine Abrecht; three sisters, Catherine Abrecht, Winiford Morgan and Mary Shankle; and one brother, Clyde Abrecht Jr.

Friends may call at Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Home, 1201 N. Market St., Frederick. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 24. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the funeral home, with Deacon Skip Manley of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Frederick, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. The family requests that memorials in Mr. Abrecht's name be made to a charity of one's choice.
