Born in Missouri. She married David Cooper and settled in Arkansas. Her father was a patriot, a pioneer, and ran a trading post with the Pawnee Tribe. Nancy had red hair and was nicknamed "Fire Girl" by the Pawnee children with whom she grew up.[This is the story as related by her youngest child, Tennie Buxton] Nancy bore her husband ten children and raised them all to adulthood. She left a number of redhaired descendents.
