ALLEN D. BLANKENSHIP
Allen D. Blankenship, 70, died in his home at 726 Bennett street at 7:30 a.m. today. He had been ill a year and a half.
Born Oct. 9, 1879, in Lawrence county, he was a son of Quincy and Lucinda Steele Blankenship, the father a native of Virginia and the mother of Lawrence county. In 1904, he married Elizabeth Jones, who died March 15, 1912. Dec. 24, 1913, he was married to Lina Willis. A resident of Marion 25 years, he came here from West Virginia. He was a watchman for the Marion Power Shovel Co. 23 years.
Surviving are his widow, his children by the first marriage, Mrs. Mildred Pennington of 138 Scioto street, Mrs. Edith Abbott of Bryant street, and Willard Blankenship of Ironton, and children by his second marriage, Allen Blankenship at home. Mrs. Dora Mayse of 594 Patterson street, Mrs. Eileen Burke of Bryant street, and Mrs. Louise Darnell of 710 Bennett street, a brother, John Blankenship of Gilead, and sisters Bessie of Columbus, and Mrs. Kate Rowe and Mrs. Birdie Neville, both of Ironton.
The body will be removed from the M. H. Gunder and Sons funeral home on West Center Street to the Blankenship home where friends may call after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
