W/O Edward Thomas Nathaniel Alford Daughter of John Henry Flick Scott & Mary Jane (Lavender?)Scott. Mentioned in the 21 September 1928 Grand Island Daily Independent in an article entitled "First Lincoln Home," it was mentioned that a bronze tablet was placed at the location of the site of the Luke Lavender log cabin at Fourteenth and O streets, Lincoln, Nebraska, the first residence to be erected on the site of our present state capital. The cabin was built in 1864. It was also noted that Mrs. E. T. N. Alford, of Cairo, is a granddaughter of Luke Lavender, who built the cabin.
