Julia Opal McKinney, 78, daughter of Lee M. and America McKinney, was born March 9, 1897 at Solo and died January 20, 1976 at her home. Her entire life was spent in the Solo community where she was well known.

On June 17, 1914, she was united in marriage to Jess F. Erwin, and to this union that lasted over 56 years, nine children were born. A son, Howard, preceded her in death as have her parents, three brothers, and two sisters. For many years she and her husband were successfully engaged in farming until his death in 1970.

At a young age she joined the New Hope Church at Solo.

Surviving are: two sons, Wayne of Bokeelia, Florida, Ralph of Yukon; six daughters, Mildred Rust and Zella Rust of Cabool, Zula Johnson of Solo, Olive Erwin of the home, Juanita Akeman of Cabool, and Kathleen Vance of Quinlan, Texas; a sister, Olive Blankenship of Solo, 22 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 23, in the Ozark Baptist Church with Don Brower officiating. Burial was in the Ozark Cemetery under direction of Elliott-Gentry of Cabool.
