Lloyd Zack Martin was born on March 15, 1900, in John Day, Oregon to Maude Hamilton Mathis, age 24, and John Valentine Martin, age 32. The Family lived near Winlock or Wagner, Oregon in Wheeler Country at this time. They soon moved to Wasco county near Tygh Valley and Maupin where Lloyd would spend most of his childhood. Born the fifth child of eleven. When old enough the boys went to work on the farm and he managed to finished the eight grade. His mother and father and some of his sibling were to stay in Wasco county and pass away there.
Lloyd strikes out on his own and works at different farms in Wasco and Harney county, Oregon before moving to central, Oregon. He meets a divorcee by the name of Frances Irene Miller. The housekeeper would change the 36 year bachelor into a married man when they traveled with her mother and stepfather, Charlie and Mary Hiatt, to Vancouver, Washington and were married on June 11, 1936.
Lloyd moved him and his wife Frances to Eagle Point, Oregon in 1942 and from there to Humberg Creek in Jackson County, Oregon. An Uncle, Mark Homer Martin lived not far from them. Married only 13 years his wife, Frances, passed away at the age of 53, four years his senior he was a widow at the age of 49. Lloyd moved to Southern California and passed away three days before his 64th birthday on March 12, 1964 at Siskiyou County, California.
He leaves behind nine of his brothers and sisters, brothers; Roy Martin, Charles Martin, John Martin, and sisters; Olivia L. Martin, Verna Lea Calkins, Dorothy Martin Nichols, Viola M. McGinnis, Rose Underhill, Waive Schreiber. Besides his father, mother and wife, only older brother Percy preceded him in death.
