Nancy was most remembered for her kindness. Even during the height of the Great Depression, no matter how many gathered at her house, she always found enough food for everyone. Teenagers loved to gather at her house on Saturday night and each would bring enough ingredients for a taffy pull. She helped the sick, often becoming quarantined with the family so she could help the mother with the family during the illness. She was a Christian and appropriately died in church singing and praising the Lord, according to Sally Messenger.

Nancy was m. to Moses Powell, son of William E. & Mary (Frazier) Powell, in 1894 Hocking Co., OH prior to her marriage to Edward Decker. It's believed that Moses Powell d. in a mining accident. Nancy was a widow with daughter Jessie Powell and living with George & Martha (Lanning) Burton in the 1900 Hocking Co., OH census.
