Although Margaret's death cert. says 1841 for her birthdate, it appears that both she and her sister Sarah were listed in the 1840 Salt Lick Twp., Perry Co., OH census for her parents Eli & Amelia (aka Emily, Emma) (Allen) Skinner. Margaret's father Zebal "Eli" Skinner went by "Eli" as an adult. Margaret's grandfather Richard Skinner b. 1775 was in that same 1840 census, listed not very far away. Margaret's uncle & aunt Ephraim & Tersia (Spurgeon) Skinner were listed next to Eli & Emma Skinner in that 1840 census. Margaret m. Joseph Lanning on 16 April 1856 in Hocking Co. with her step-father Reuben Spurgeon as a witness. Reuben Spurgeon helped Amelia Skinner raise his four Skinner step-children: Sarah, Margaret, Richard, and Eli Morris Skinner.

Margaret and Joseph Lanning had twelve children: Susanna "Susan," Martha Jane, Richard, Millie Emaline, Katherine Ellen "Kate," Nancy Dora, Rosa Idella, David Martin, Maggie Matilda, Joseph, Eli Morris, and Charles E. Lanning, who d. as an infant.

I've never seen any proof that Margaret had a middle name.
