Biological son of George Burton 1859-1949, who's bur. in the New Straitsville Joint Cemetery in Perry Co., OH, Clifford was raised by his mother Nancy Dora Decker and step-father Edward E. Decker. Clifford & Lillie B. Wright were married in Franklin County OH, May 19 1927.

According to Sally Messenger, he was raised by Edward Decker, but everyone knew that Edward wasn't his biological father. Growing up, he spent lots of time at the George Burton residence.
