He was born November 30, 1897 in Johnson County, the son of John Miles and Caroline Belcher Kerley. He was married to Chloe Watkins, who preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by six sisters, four brothers and one half-brother.
Mr. Kerley is survived by a daughter, Florine Cummings of Elgin; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 11, 1982, at 2 p.m. at Aly Funeral Home, Eddyville with Rev. Robert Trout officiating. Burial was in Rock Springs cemetery. Aly Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
