Millie Caroline Belcher Kerley was born near Eddyville, in Pope County, June 24th, 1860, and departed this life September 3rd, 1932, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cora Stapleton at Simpson, age 72 years., 2 mo., and 10 days.

She was married to John M. Kerley, March 2, 1879, and to this union was born 16 children of which her husband and eight children preceded her in death. The husband who passed away some eight years and her oldest daughter, Mrs. Nora Guynn, who passed away the 19th day of May of the same year and Mrs. Dora Ice Baker nine years ago and the rest in younger days.

She left to mourn her departure, 7 children; Mrs. Cora Stapleton, Mrs. Claris Wright, Weaver; Orlan and Johnnie Kerley of Simpson; Mrs. Julia Murrie of Creal Springs; Miles Kerley of Brownfield; one stepson Calvin Kerley of Cobden, 44 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, two brothers, one sister and a number of relatives and friends to mourn her death. We hope our loss will be her gain that she has gone with Christ to reign.

The funeral services was conducted at Rock Springs Church by Rev. N. A. Rodgers with Baines & Buchanan as undertakers, after which the body was greatly returned to mother earth in the church cemetery.
