Andrew G. Gremer Sr., 82, of Route 2, Edwardsville, a retired farmer, about 20 years, died this morning at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland. He was a lifetime resident of Ft. Russell Township.
Born Nov. 27, 1882 in Pin Oak Township, he was the son of the late John and Rose Bast Gremer. His first wife, the former Barbara Krouse, died March 29, 1940. On Nov. 25, 1943 he was married to Mrs. Mayme Drda Krouse at St. Mary's Church by Rev. P.P. McGuinness.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Andrew Jr. of Bethalto, Leo and Wilbert, both of Edwardsville; two stepsons, John and Albert Krouse, both of Edwardsville; two daughters, Mrs. Luther (Minnie) Pike of Edwardsville and Mrs. Edward (Leona) Kuethe of Bethalto; one brother, John of Louisville, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Harold (Stella) Waters of Spartanburg, S.C. and Mrs. Lloyd (Helen) Hulsker Jr. of Marine; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Leitner, Mrs. Annie Grebel and Mrs. Frances Richardson, all of Edwardsville; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. One brother; one daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Hanks, died in 1963; one stepdaughter and three sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Gremer was a member of the Edwardsville Moose Lodge.
Friends may call at the Pletcher Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis Elbow officiating. Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. The rosary will be recited Monday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
