Joseph Gremer, 51, a life-long resident of Edwardsville, passed away Sunday afternoon at 4:45 at the Veterans' hospital in Jefferson Barracks, as a result of complications incurred 17 years ago and which became steadily worse in the last few weeks.
He was born in Edwardsville on April 5, 1895, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Gremer, and had reached the age of 51 years, one month and 27 days. Mr. Gremer was united in marriage with Miss Anna Rose Lautner on September 10, 1919, in St. Mary's Catholic church by the Rev. Fr. C. O'Reilly. Before Mr. Gremer's illness, 17 years ago, he was employed by the N.O. Nelson Manufacturing Co.
Besides his widow, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Helen Ann Jennings and one grandson, Clinton Aubrey Jennings, who reside at the home of her parents, 845 Prickett Avenue. Two brothers and five sisters also survive.
The deceased was a member of St. Boniface Catholic church and a veteran of World War I.
Friends may call at the Schneider funeral home after 6 o'clock Tuesday evening. Burial services will be conducted Thursday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Boniface Catholic church. The Rev. Fr. E.J. Eckhard will officiate. Burial will be in St. Boniface cemetery.
