Mr. Johnston spent most of his life in Cohoes and was the oldest member of St. James Methodist Church and for a number of years had taken an active part in church affairs.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Roy E. Summers of Cohoes and Mrs. Warren W. Brower of Waterford, N.Y.; a son, Joseph Johnston, Jr. of Cohoes; a sister, Mrs. Leroy Geesler of Schenectady, N.Y., several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Dufresne Funeral Home, 216 Columbia St., Cohoes. Interment will be in Waterford Rural Cemetery.
