Sergeant John Johnston, Company B, One Hundred and Fifth United States Infantry, died on November 5, 1918, of pneumonia after a long illness. He enlisted in Company B on February 12, 1908 and was one the best known members of the local military company. Sgt. Johnston was born in Cohoes and always resided there. He was a veteran of the Mexican border service. He was a member of St. James' Methodist Church and active in its affairs. He was one of the leading members of Cohoes Lodge of Elks and the only member of that organization in Cohoes to make the supreme sacrifice. He is survived by his parents, City Assessor and Mrs. Joseph H. Johnston, and two sisters, Mrs. Warren Brower and Mrs. Lillian Miller, both of Cohoes.
The funeral will be of a military character and will be held Thursday afternoon, March 24, 192, at 2 o'clock from the residence, 17 Amity Street, Cohoes.
