He was born in Pulaski County to the late Paris and Minnie (Baker) Conner. He married Frances (Leedy) Conner on June 13, 1953, and she preceded him in death. He married Sharon (Fishback) Conner on April 19, 1987; she survives.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.

Survivors include sons, Bert (Linda) Conner, Marion, Larry (Connie) Conner, Moody, Texas, Ronald (Barbara) Conner, Nampa, Idaho, Bobbie (Veronica) Conner, Peru, Victor (Donna) Conner, Crane, and Gary Baldus, Fort Wayne; daughters, Phyllis Johnson and Rita (Bob) Doran, both of Peru, and Cheryl (Rick) Hall, Apollo Beach, Fla.; brothers, Spencer and Harold Conner, both of Lafayette; sister, Julia Downing, Peru; 23 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by a daughter; six brothers; six sisters; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
