ALBERT AHART
Albert Ahart, one of Candor's best known and life long citizens, died at the home of Mrs. Ethel Harris, on Foundry Street, where he was being cared for on Wednesday morning, August 28, 1940 at the age of 81 years.
Mr. Ahart was born on Germany Hill in 1859. He drove the dray in Candor for about 25 years, later being employed by the Candor Glove Company. Before his last sickness, about one year ago, he had carried the mail between the depot and the post office for about 10 years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at two o'clock from the Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Luke Hovey, officiating. Burial will be made in Maple Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Matie (Jacobs) Ahart and eight children. Four by his first wife: Guiles Ahart, Owen Ahart, Mrs. Richard Riker and Mrs. Merle Guiles all of Sencer. Two sons, Alton Ahart and Abbot Ahart, of Candor and two daughters, Mrs. Gerald Knight of Candor and Mrs. Herbert Hall of Ithaca by his second wife. Also fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
