Jacob Strauder Johns(t)on, called Straud, was the son of Johnathan Moses Johns(t)on and Tabitha Massey Johns(t)on. He married first, Lucinda Riddle, who was the mother of his children. After Lucinda's death Straud married the widow of Willis Brooks, Jane "Jenny" Bates Brooks, known locally as Aunt Jenny Johnston. It was his union with Jenny Brooks which fractured his family, who opposed the marriage. His children left Alabama for Henderson County, Tennessee. Many of their descendants are still in Henderson County.
A death notice published in The Moulton Advertiser, on Thursday, July 1, 1 1897, stated: "Uncle Straud Johnson, 94 years old, died at Kinlock, this county, on Sunday last.
