About the Family of Sis Johnson Henderson Hall:

Jacob Strauder "Straud" Johns(t)on is best remembered in Winston County, Alabama for two accomplishments. He was one of the early settlers of Winston County. His original land entry is dated October 3, 1836 and was located on present day Highway 278, three of four miles east of Natural Bridge adjoining Henry Cagle's land entry. He was also the second husband of Aunt Jenny Brooks, marrying her c1871. Straud was born in Tennessee in 1809 and married Lucinda Riddle around 1827. Their children are: 1) John Porter, b. 1829 m. Jane Nicks, ch: Sarah Ann, and possibly others. He fought the Confederacy and moved to Texas after the War. 2) Elizabeth "Beck" b. 1829. d. 1923 and is buried in the Antioch Cemetery in Henderson County, TN. She married, first, Unknown McKnight and second, Robert Banks. Children: Henry and Lou McKnight, and Easter Lee Banks; 3) Sarah "Sallie" b. 1831 m. Leige Dyer. Ch: Vinnie and Lucy. 4) Leaner, b. 1834 m. Charles Cagle. Ch: Chloie, Johnny, Easter, and another son. 5) Talitha, b. 1835 6) Easter b. 1837 m. Steve Garrison. Ch James Alf who was raised by Dick, her brother, when she died. Margaret b. 9/19/38 d. 6/23/22 and is buried beside her husband William F. Cummings, in the Brown's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery, Madison County, Tn. Their children are Fannie, Cordelia, Parildia, Modie, Larphelia, and Jim Erick. 8) Martha b. 1839 (possibly called Mandy) married Paul Garrison. 9) James 1841, enlisted in the Union Army at Deckard, TN. 10) Narcissa "Sis" Clarinda b. 7/17/1846 d. 10/21/1921. She is buried in Antioch Cemetery, Henderson County, TN beside her second husband, Willis Hall. Her first husband was Samuel Franklin "Frank" Henderson. Henderson children: Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann, Amanda, James Carroll, Lura Frances, and Charles Frank Henderson. Hall children: Jeanie Millard Hall and Lassie Vay Hall. 11) Richard (Dick) Cairl (pronounced Carroll) b. 1848 d. 1894. He is buried in Brown's Methodist Church Cemetery, Madison County, TN, beside his third wife, Maggie Fretwell, the mother of his children. He first married Jane Gise and he next married Elizabeth "Betty" Keaton. Children: Henry "Strauder" Cuff, Porter Washington "Paw Jolly", Emma Lou "Daisy", Annie, Manuel "Millard", Richard Cathey, and an unnamed infant. Lucinda died c1871. Straud married Jane "Aunt Jenny" Bates Brooks, the widow of Willis Brooks, c1872. The children of Strauder and Lucinda objected to the marriage. Family tradition says that Aunt Beck stood outside the building, during the ceremony, hollering and crying for her dead mother. Many of the children moved to Henderson County, Tennessee as a result of the marriage and the bitter feelings created by the union. Aunt Jenny's family was good to Straud. TexAnn, a granddaughter of Aunt Jenny, cared for Straud in his old age.
