On a census document Mary Foley stated that her family emigrated to the U.S. in 1880. She married circa 1891 Henry Richard Ahrendt, Sr., the son of William Henry Ahrendt and Dorothea Thorsen who themselves emigrated to the U.S. from Prussia in 1865.

Together they had seven surviving children:

Mary (Foley) Ahrendt was a devout practicing Catholic. Her marriage did not last and she went to work as a housekeeper for an Irish priest in River Forest Village, Cook Co. IL. Following this she lived with family, and later moved to a home for seniors in 1946. She passed away on her 80th birthday in the Little Company of Mary Hospice in Chicago.
