Darlington, Wis.- Mrs. Phoebe M. Bates, 81, lifelong resident of the Darlington vicinity, died Tuesday in her home here. Her only son, Harold was killed in World War I. The Darlington post of the American Legion is named in his honor.
She is survived by three borthers, Prince and Silas Buss, Darlington, and William, Harlan, Ia.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm in the Nelson funeral home, Darlington, with the Rev. E.J. Jeffrey of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery.
