Daniel, eldest child of Daniel and Ann Buss, was born in Kent, England, on July 24, 1850. He came with his parents to America in 1851, going first to Buffalo, New York, and about a year later to Wisconsin where has ever since resided. The family settled in the town of Kendall, Lafayette county. Mr. Buss followed the occupation of farming both in Kendall and Avon, which latter place became his home since 1903. He was married to Miss Phoebe A. DeWitt, March 17, 1875. One daughter was born to them, Irene (Mrs. L.E. Boll) who died in 1912.
Mr. Buss health began to fail about two years ago but he kept up until a fortnight before his death which occurred on Monday morning, March 13.
He is survived by his one granddaughter, Ina Boll; his mother, five brothers and four sisters, namely: Thomas, Walnut, Iowa, Charles and William, Harlan, Iowa, Silas and Prince, Darlington, Mrs. Emma Dean, Harlan, Iowa, Mrs. Elizabeth Peary, Harrisburg, South Dakota, Mrs. Mary Perry, LeMars, Iowa, Mrs. Phoebe Bates, Darlington. Two brothers Harry and Frank preceded him in death.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the late residence at Center. Interment was made in the Union Grove cemetery.

After an illness of many months, Mr. Daniel Buss passed from this life at his home in Darlington, on Monday morning, March 13th. He was the son of Daniel and Ann Buss. Besides his wife, he is survived by sisters and brothers, and his mother, now aged 92 years. To the bereaved ones many hearts go out in sorrow.
He was an upright citizen, a sincere Christian and a man of gentle bearing and kindly manner, who had a very wide circle of friends. He passed away in the 72nd year of his age. The esteem in which he was held attested by the large concourse of neighbors and friends at his burial, which took place on Thursday afternoon, with services in the family home, interment in the Darlington cemetery. The floral tributes were many and beautiful.
