Margaret was the daughter of Daniel and Hannah Anna Yencil Grissinger from Pennsylvania with siblings: Catherine and Rebecca. Margaret was born posthumously. Her father died in April of the year she was born. She married Lucius Boughton on 28 October 1858 in Ashland County, Ohio, and they had Ella, Ambrose, Susan, and Bertha. Margaret died from an inflammation of the liver at the age of 56 years 10 months and 18 days.
