Grover F. Blankinship, Sr. was born Feb. 26, 1888, in Shobonier, the son of John Thomas and Eliza Bricker Blankinship. He was married Sept. 10, 1910, to Tillie M. Bastien.

Mr. Blankinship was owner and operator of the Egyptian Sales Agency in Murphysboro.

Mr. Blankinship was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was a member of AF&AM 493, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of East St. Louis, Ainad Temple of East St. Louis, Chapter 164 of Royal Arch Masons, Council No. 49 of Royal Select Masons. He
was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 52 years.

He also was a charter member of the lay advisory board of St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, a member and former president of the Murphysboro Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Lions Club, the Elks Lodge 572 and the Low 12 Club.

Mr. Blankinship leaves his wife; sons, John T. Blankinship of Murphysboro and Capt. Grover Francis Blankinship, Jr., with the U. S. Navy at Portsmouth, Va,; daughters, Mrs. Marion L. Wills of Carbondale and Mrs. Ross Williams of Murphysboro; ...

He died Mon., Feb. 11, 1963, in Murphysboro. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church.
