Janet A. Shipley, 73 of Mechanicsburg, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 16, 2013 in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born December 24, 1939 in Catlettsburg, KY the daughter of the late Manuel E and Dixie (Rice) Sherman.
She was a 1957 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and was a member for many years of the Mechanicsburg Baptist Church. Janet is survived by her son, Charles T Potter of Mechanicsburg, her daughter, Cheryl (Thomas) Welch of London; her sister, Brenda (Gale) Dixon of Mechanicsburg, her brothers, Bert (Dianne) Sherman of Mechanicsburg, Lowell (Barbara) Sherman of Arlington, TX and Terry (Julie) Sherman of Springfield; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her grandson, Clinton Thomas Potter, her brothers, Richard, Bill, James "Benny" and Ed Sherman, and her sisters, Betty Pack, Glendine Fultz, Jane Tull, Vonnie Hampton and Judy Michael.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 pm on Monday, February 18, 2013 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in the funeral home with Pastor Lowell Sherman officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
