AUBURN - Edgar E. Sherman, 71, of Auburn and formerly of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at DeKalb Health in Auburn. He was born in Catlesburg, Kentucky, on Sept. 9, 1941, to Ervin and Dixie (Rice) Sherman. He married Goldie (Crager) Vanderpool on June 29, 1995, in Auburn, and she survives in Auburn.

Mr. Sherman retired as a supervisor at Mossberg Industries Inc. in Garrett. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Waterloo where he also served as Sunday School superintendent.

Also surviving are his children, Daphne Thompson of Waterloo, Nikki (Scott) Beard of Keystone Heights, Fla., Derrick (Shawna) Demorest of Leo, Drew (Carol) Demorest of Fort Wayne, Penny (Don) Sawyer of Fort Wayne, Diane Lewis of Fort Wayne, and Trent Sherman of Fremont; a son-in-law, Steve Kennedy of Garrett; 22 grandchildren, Ashleigh and Meghann Thompson, Dalton, Dylan, Dustin Beard, Daxton, Aubrey, Izak, and Eian Demorest, Mckayle Demorest, Jacob, Josh, Jade, and Jordan Massey, Brooks and Skyler Sawyer, Alexis Morgan and Logan Vanhorne, Trenten Lewis, Jennifer and Kevin Kennedy, and Amanda Schortgen; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Burt (Diana) Sherman, and Terry (Julie) Sherman; three sisters, Janet Shipley, Barbara (Lowell) Thomas, Brenda (Gale) Dixion, four sisters-in-law, Julia Sherman, Mary Sherman, Dicie Sherman, and Patty Sherman; and three brothers-in-law, Ralph Shipley, Larry Hampton, and Richard Michael.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Doris Jean Kennedy; four brothers, George Sherman, James Sherman, Robert Sherman, and Richard W. Sherman; and five sisters, Betty (Walter) Pack, Glendine (Roger) Fultz, Jane (Burney) Tull, Yvonne Hampton, Judy Michael.

Services will be at noon Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Freewill Baptist Church, 2833 C.R. 27, Waterloo, with the Rev. Ron Stambaugh and Minister Lowell Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St., Auburn.
