Mary Alice Ewoldt, 81, of Grand Island died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at her home.

Graveside memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Chaplain Steve Shanno will officiate. As per her wishes, Mrs. Ewoldt's body has been cremated. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.

Mrs. Ewoldt was born April, 1, 1931, in Grand Island to Walter and Daisy (Fletcher) Cadwalader. She grew up and attended school in Grand Island. On July 17, 1949, she married Arthur Raymond Ewoldt of Wood River. The couple made their home in Grand Island until 1970, when they transferred to Lincoln. In 1975, they returned to the family farm south of Wood River. They were married for 37 years.

Mary was employed in 1953 at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. She later was a waitress for the Liederkranz, working for nearly 20 years then retiring. Mary had a special love for her dog, Daisy, growing flowers especially roses. She was a Nebraska Husker fan and had a talent for all types of handiwork. Mary was blessed with wonderful neighbors, who meant so much to her.

Survivors include her five children and spouses ,Wanetta (Gene) Baker of Kearney, Sandra Findley, Linda Ewoldt and Pat Ewoldt, all of Lincoln and Rhonda (Dave) Sidders of Wood River; three brothers, Roy Cadwalader and Fred Cadwalader, both of Grand Island, and Bert Cadwalader of Utah; and two sisters, Blanche Kissler of Wyoming and Lillian Gannon of Wilber.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cori Sonnenfeld of Kearney, Julie Baker of Lexington, Emily Williams, John Ewoldt and Allison Helmstadter ,all of Lincoln, Lena Kisner of Hutchinson, Kan., and Ben Sidders of Grand Island; 13 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Sue Bartek of Lincoln.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; grandson, Kyle Ewoldt; and sisters, Edna Hiatt, Evelyn Hatcher and Dorothy McDonald.
