Jean L. (Hickey) Paulson of King Street who was a very active member of the Immaculate Conception Women's Guild, died Monday May 30, 1994 at Morton Hospital and Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 73. She was the wife of Richard M. Paulson. Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Alice (Durnin) Hickey. A lifelong resident of this community, Mrs. Paulson graduated cum laude from Taunton High School in the class of 1938. She completed
two years of study at Bridgewater State College and graduated with honors from the former Bristol County Business College. A member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Mrs. Paulson was an active member of that church's Women's Guild. She served as a past president of the Immaculate Conception Women's Guild and of the Taunton District of Catholic Women the Fall River Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She also served as Director of the Boston Province of the National Council of Catholic Women which included the dioceses of Fall River, Springfield, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine and served on the National Executive Board in Washington, DC. She also served a term on the Bishop's Pastoral Council and received a Marian Medal for outstanding work in the Catholic Church from the Fall River Diocese. From 1984 to 1987 she worked as a teacher aide in the Taunton Public Schools. Mrs. Paulson was a lector and taught CCD classes for 20 years at Immaculate Conception Church. In addition to her husband Richard, Mrs. Paulson is survived by three sons, Richard M. Paulson Jr. and Neil H. Paulson of Taunton, and Philip D. Paulson of
Lakeville; two daughters, Romena J. Dodenhoff of Taunton and Alicia L. O'Brien of Berkley; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held from the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
