Mrs. Elizabeth S. West
Mrs. Elizabeth Sarah West, 88, formerly of 1828 McAlister, died Thursday, Jan. 23, at a Topeka hospital.
Mrs. West was a clerk in the design department of the Kansas Department of Transportation before she retired.
She was born Oct. 9, 1897, at Overbrook, a daughter of Noah and Mary Falwell Blocher. She spent most of her life in Topeka.
Mrs. West was a member of Seabrook United Church of Christ, a 25-year member of Beulah Chapter No. 34 of Order of Eastern Star, a past president of Ladies Auxiliary to Philip Billard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1650, a past commander and a charter member of Navy Mothers Club No. 83, a member of the American Association of Retired Persons No. 37 and a past president of DeMolay Mothers of Topeka.
A daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Gallo, died in 1981, and a son, Howard West, died in 1973.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Billie Palmer, Matteson, Ill., and Mrs. Sara Lou Stallard, Topeka; three sons, Art West and Robert West, both of San Diego, Calif., and Virgil West, Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Baker, Topeka, and Mrs. Florence Goodman, Stockton, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Seabrook United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 until 9 p.m. today at Newcomer-Diffenderfer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Seabrook United Church of Christ, 4425 W. 19th, 66604.
