Succumbing after a long illness from rheumatoid arthritis, Thomas Maruska passed away Saturday afternoon, December 5, at his farm home north of Royalton, at the age of 56 years, four months and 16 days. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Holy Trinity Church. Rev. Msgr. A. Plachta conducting the requiem high mass at 10 o'clock. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Maruska and family came to the Royalton community 11 years ago and made their home on the old Henenlotter farm until last summer when they moved to the Dan Blanchard place. Prior to coming here Mr. Maruska was employed for a number of years in the Great Northern car shops at Waite Park, and also worked as a baggaage man for the railroad at Breckenridge, Minn. The family later moved near Bowlus and from there came to Royalton. Thomas Maruska was born July 18, 1875 at Lowry, Minn., and grew to young manhood there. His marriage to Miss Mary Drygas occurred at Breckenridge, Minn., in 1905. Surviving are the widow, three sons and three daughters. They are William, John, Edward, Bertha and Angeline, all at home and Florence of Crosby. There are also six brothers and to sisters: Mike and James of Lowry; Albert of Ogema; Joe of Grand Forks, N.D.; Martin of Chicago; Frank of Washington state, Mary and Mrs. Anna Baldwin, Fargo, N.D.
