The town of Piedmont, South Carolina, was created as the site for the Piedmont Manufacturing Company, which was organized in 1873 and began operations in 1876. This textile mill was one of the first large-scale cotton manufacturers in upstate South Carolina and had considerable influence on the development of other mills in the area. People in the surrounding counties were attracted to the job opportunities in Piedmont, and the Brysons of Transylvania County were no exception. Of Seaborn Bryson's nine children, five of them had moved to Piedmont in the early 1900s.

On September 9, 1917, Nolia and Robert's daughter Clara Louise was born and in 1920 another little girl, Robbie, was born. They and their daughters continued to live in Piedmont, South Carolina, and were active members at the Piedmont First Baptist Church all of their lives. Clara married James Carlisle Riley and they had one son, Robert. Robbie married James Ernest Bishop; they had no children.
