On December 25 1914, Joe "Duck" Bryson married Mary O.Osteen. They were the parents of Ruby Josephine, Mary Frances, Joseph L., Carolina and Betty Jean. In 1930 Mary was still living with "Duck." Some time later they divorced. He married Lavada Jane Ashe in 1950. They had two children: Barbara Sue and Wanda Jo.
