Mrs. Ethel VanHoose, the wife of Earl VanHoose of Thealka, died Sunday, March 9, 1975 after a brief illness. Born March 28, 1907, she was the daughter of the late O. C. and Mary Secnoma Taylor and was a member of the United Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband, are 4 sons, Lifis VanHoose of Denver, James, Virgil and Harry VanHoose all of Thealka; 7 daughters, Ruby Salyer and Ella Ratliff both of Denver, Mrs. Georgia Lyons of Marion, OH, Mrs. Silas Jeffery of St. Albans, WV, Maxine VanHoose of Oceana, WV, Mrs. Christine Clark of Thealka and Virgie Kimbler of Paintsville; one brother, Ennis Taylor of West Virginia; one sister, Sylvia Wheeler of Thelma; 41grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. VanHoose were held at 1 p.m. today, March 12, in the Thealka Freewill Baptist Church with Reverends Don Fraley and Scott Castle officiating. Burial was in Ratliff Cemetery at Denver with arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
