Frances "Fannie" (Neblett) Ely was born on October 20, 1870 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, the daughter of James Sterling Neblett (1833–1893) and Sue (Orgain) Neblett (1842–1918).
She was married to Edward Lawrence "Ed" Ely (1870–1935), and he was the son of Edward Baker "E B" Ely (1842–1919) and his wife Maria (Cannell) Ely (1850–1886).
In Clarksville, Montgomery County, Fannie was a widow when she died June 25, 1947 the age of 76. Burial was the next day in Greenwood Cemetery.
