Violet M. Skubal, age 88, formerly of 515 Randolph St., Mishicot, entered into eternal rest, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at St. Mary's at Felician Village in Manitowoc, where she has resided for the past ten years.
She was born on Oct. 17, 1919, in the town of Kossuth, to the late Louis and Nora "Mimmie" (Braun) Staudinger. She attended school in Rockwood.
On Oct. 9, 1940, she married Floyd W. Skubal at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2002. She and her husband owned and operated the Skubal's Corner's Tavern for many years.
She also worked as a cook for the Mishicot Elementary School System for many years. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, and also was a member of the VFW Kempen-Staudinger-Terens Post 7753 Ladies Auxiliary. Violet enjoyed cooking, gardening and going fishing.

In additon to her parents and her husband, Floyd, she was also preceded in death by two sisters: Jeanette (Ed) Free and Adele Zeman; two brothers: Louis Staudinger and Kenneth (LaVerne) Staudinger: her stepfather: Ariel Nelson; and by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. Paul Paider officiating, with entombment to follow in the Knollwood Mausoleum Highway 310, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. on Friday at Holy Cross until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting the Skubal family with funeral arrangements.
Violet's family would like to express a very special thank you to the entire staff of St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc for their special care and concern's shown to her and our family during her residence there.
